Common Application

We are pleased you are interested in applying to Emory University, and we welcome your application to one or both of our freshman admitting divisions: Oxford College and Emory College.

To begin the application process, we strongly encourage you first to complete and submit Emory University's Common Application supplement. The supplement contains important information regarding application options and deadlines. Because you may apply to one or both colleges and because each offers various application plans, you must check the appropriate box on the supplement to indicate your preferences.

Submitting the supplement now allows Oxford and Emory to customize the information we send to you. Once you have submitted the supplement, you are ready to begin the Common Application which should be completed and submitted as soon as possible but no later than the deadline of the earliest application plan you have chosen.

Fees and Important Details

Emory University exclusively uses the Common Application. Whether applying to Oxford College, Emory College or both, a student starts the application process by searching for "Emory University" at www.commonapp.org. The University's Common Application supplement then allows an applicant to select an admission plan for one or both of the colleges.

A student may apply online to both Oxford College and Emory College, with one application and one $50 application fee.

A student's application will not be complete and will not be reviewed until the Common Application and Common Application Supplement have been submitted.

The Common Application supplement will be the form of record regarding a student's application plan; if a student notes a different plan on the general Common Application, the plan selected on the supplement will determine how the file is considered.

If a student is applying to both Oxford College and Emory College and the deadline dates are different, the earlier deadline date will apply to both divisions.

Supporting documents, such as the high school transcript, SAT/ACT scores, etc., must be submitted to each school separately.

If a student originally applies to only Oxford College or Emory College and later decides to submit an application to the other school, the student will not be able to submit the second application online. Instead, he or she will need to submit a paper application to the other school. However, an additional application fee does not have to be submitted.

Students who apply to both Oxford College and Emory College will have their application reviewed independently and will receive an independent decision from each school.

A student may apply early decision to Emory College and early action to Oxford College, but note that an early decision application to Emory College is binding. By selecting early decision, students are indicating that the school is their first choice and that if admitted, they are willing at attend. If admitted to both schools in this situation, a student would be obliged to withdraw his or her early action application at Oxford College and to enroll at Emory College.
