Oxford Wins again 86 to 63 over Shorter University JV

The Eagles defeated Shorter University JV 86 to 63 to win their third straight game to open the season.

Both team traded baskets early that saw 6 lead changes in the first 8 minutes of the game with the score tied at 16 to 16. The Eagles then went on a 13 to 2 run to lead 29 to 18 with 7 minutes to go in the half before Shorter regained the momentum and tied it at 31 to 31 with 2 minutes to go in the half.  Oxford went on a 7 to 0 run to end the 1st half leading 38 to 31.

In the second half, the Eagles went on a 16 to 4 run in the first 5 minutes of the 2nd half and never looked back as they extended the lead to as much as 29 points.

Oxford had 5 players in double figure scoring with Stephen Simmons leading the way with 16 points, followed by Zachary Lynn and Richard Obiora each with 14 points.  Byron Stufken poured in 14 points and Roman Woodburn had his best game of the season with 10 points. 

Alex Ordu had a solid game with 8 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists.

Shorter University JV was lead by Tyler Burse who produced a double-double with 32 points and 14 rebounds.

Next for the Eagles is a rematch versus Truett-McConnell's JV in Cleveland, GA on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 2:00pm.
