Your first priority as a new student should be to learn more about your own strengths and areas needing improvement; then determine which resources will help you the most and utilize them fully. That is why we are here-to assist you in your efforts toward success!
- Hoke O'Kelley Memorial Library - great place to study, do research - students say that the staff is very friendly & helpful (4-8380)
- Libraries on the Atlanta Campus - take the shuttle and try a different scene for studying & research (see catalog for more info.)
- Information Technology - problems with Learnlink or your computer setup - call the help desk (4-4685)
- Writing Center - students say this is great resource - just don't wait until the last minute to take you papers over - located in Language Hall (4-4722)
- Math Tutors - students say use these tutors, especially if you struggle in math - for more information talk to math professors or Paul Oser
- Tutors in other courses - some professors ask students in their classes to serve as tutors - for more information, check with professors or refer to your course syllabus
- Supplemental Instruction (SI) -students say if your class has an SI, go to the SI sessions - for more info see your course syllabus or talk with your professor
- Disability Services - the main office is located on the Atlanta campus -Jessalyn Smiley (7-6016) serves as a part-time contact person at Oxford

- Career Center - explore career options & make plans for summer jobs, internships, etc. - check out Oxford's services and the Career Center at Emory - you can utilize both! (see websites or call 4-8376)
- Student Leaders: CAs, RAs, PALs - student leaders are a great resource for advice based on experience - remember, their experiences may differ from yours
- Academic Advisers - advisers can assist you with: making major/career decisions; planning your academic course of study; academic problem-solving; finding campus resources that can assist you best - students say get to know your adviser and check in with him/her regularly
- Professors - they are at Oxford because they love to teach and they enjoy helping students succeed - get to know them!
- Campus Programs - academically related programs and presentations are provided year-round- keep your eyes & ears open for announcements about these programs and attend them
- Oxford College Catalog - academic policies and procedures can be found here - READ IT & refer to it as needed
- Records Office - have questions concerning registration, add/drop/swap, transfer credits, summer school, transient study or the purchase of a transcript, stop by and get your questions answered.
Students & Professors agree
On average, devoting 2 hours of weekly study time per every 1 hour spent in the classroom is a good rule when planning study time. However, individual time needed for study also depends on the type of courses you are taking, your ability in each of those courses and how efficiently and effectively you study.
