Summer Programs

There is a brief calm on campus each spring after students depart, but the campus comes to life again in late May, June and July with programs on and off campus for faculty, high school teachers, students, and outside groups who rent Oxford's facilities for their camps and conferences.

The Office of Events and Conferences and the College invite you to experience an Oxford summer in one of the College programs, or bring your organization here for a camp or conference.  For more information follow the links below or contact the Events and Conference Office at 770-784-8389.

  • SURE Prog rams: The Summer Undergraduate Research Program at Emory (SURE) allows undergraduate students to conduct supervised research with a faculty mentor. Students receive training in the research methods applicable to their research plan, analyze their data and create written and oral presentations of their results. At the end of the summer, each participant takes part in a formal research symposium.

  • OIEE ( Oxford Institute for Environmental Education):

The Oxford Institute for Environmental Education is for K-12 teachers who are interested in inquiry-based instruction in their schoolyards.  The Institute is designed to introduce the fundamental concepts of inquiry-based instruction and to provide field and laboratory experiences that can be used by teachers and their students to investigate their schoolyards and other local habitats.  Emphasizing "hands-on" learning and field experiences, this workshop helps teachers develop investigation plans specific for their schoolyards.  In addition, topics such as Internet use, grant writing, and schoolyard assessment are addressed.  The site for the Institute is located less than a mile from Oxford College and includes about 40 acres of forest, a three- acre lake, and a lab building and conference center.

Additional information about the program and application are available here.
