The year was 1959.

Alaska and Hawaii became the 49^th and 50^th states.  The L.A. Dodgers beat the Chicago White Sox four games to two in the World Series.  The Barbie doll was invented by Ruth Handler (co-founder of Mattel), whose own daughter was named Barbara.  Jack Lemmon and Marilyn Monroe won Golden Globes for Best Actor and Best Actress in Some Like it Hot.  It was also the year the class of 1959 graduated from Oxford and either went on to "Big Emory", another university or ventured into the world and career.  It's hard to believe how quickly time has passed since your Oxford graduation.  If you haven't visited lately, you'll notice that campus retains the same beauty and charm you remember even in the midst of exciting new changes.   We hope your upcoming reunion will bring back great memories of discovering the unique talents that helped propel you to where you are today.
