Recommended Search Terms:

 

Brainstorming synonyms or variations on words yields a more productive search strategy. For example, if you are searching for someting on GENES, you might also want to look for:

  • GENOMES
  • GENE EXPRESSION
  • GENETICS

Adjust your searches by narrowing the focus, ex: Human Genome

OR

combining terms, ex: Human Genomes AND Gene Expression

  • BioMed Central Contains both full-text and citations to peer-reviewed articles in scientific journals. 
  • BIOSIS Previews (1989 to present) Encompasses the entire field of life sciences and provides comprehensive coverage of the world's published biological and biomedical research. 
  • Ecology Abstracts Indexes current ecology research across a wide range of disciplines and focuses on how organisms interact with their environments and with other organisms. 
  • MEDLINE (EBSCOhost version [with full text]) Indexes journals in the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, and preclinical sciences.
  • ScienceDirect Provides access to full-text of Elsevier journals in  science, technology and medicine
