Locating Books

Use DiscoverE, Emory Libraries' mega-search tool, to find books and resources in our catalog (as well as in our online databases and digital collections).

DiscoverE includes materials from all Emory libraries.  You can request that items from other libraries be sent to you here at Oxford by clicking on the Available (Get It) link next to the item(s) you want to request.

Recommended Search Terms:

Once you type in your search terms, use the "Refine my results" list on the left-hand side to help narrow down your search by:

  • library location
  • genre
  • topic
  • and more!

Remember to search by words, not phrases or sentences.

Sample Searches:

  • Islam AND halal
  • Judaism AND women

Locating Articles

  • DiscoverE

Search Emory Libraries' not-your-grandmother's-library-catalog for books AND articles, all in one place

  • Databases

Look for Religion databases (in the pull-down menu next to "Find by Subject") to get you started.

  • eJournals

Use to find electronic journals owned by Emory Libraries.  This tool is most useful for trying to find a specific article cited in a bibliography -- just search for the journal title first.

Recommended Article Databases:

General

  • Academic Search Complete (multi-disciplinary; popular and scholarly articles)
  • Lexis-Nexis Academic Universe (newspapers)
  • JSTOR (all scholarly, all full-text)
On the Advanced Search screen, limit by document type to search for "Articles"
  • Project Muse (all scholarly, all full-text)
While searching, pay attention to the Subject Headings beneath each article - they can help you find the most relevant results
