It's Spirit Week at OxfordApril 15, 2012
Classes for Emory/Oxford students will end on Tuesday, May 1, and final examinations will begin on May 3. In the ensuing weeks, students are driven by deadlines and end-of-semester requirements. Spirit Week, a long-time Oxford tradition, is designed to help them have some fun and relaxation amid their academic work and class schedules. Sponsored by the Student Activities Committee, Spirit Week 2012 is April 16 through 20. Says Daphne Everhart, assistant director of student activities, "Students at Oxford College look forward to Spirit Week all year. It's a great way for them to celebrate another successful year on campus." A coffee house in the popular student spot Dooley's Tavern kicks off the week on Monday. Other activities include Screen on the Green, a showing of The Hangover Part 2 on the quad; and Wing It Big, a wings feast and other activities on Wednesday evening. On Thursday, an old-fashioned field day on Bivings Field will let students run, throw and jump off some steam. Friday will see an old-fashioned carnival. The grand finale on Saturday includes Wet & Wild, a day of water fun that includes slip 'n' slides, a dunk tank and more, followed by Spring Fling, a foam party with music by DJ's Filthy Gorgeous, DJ Stella and Wyred. Each day's activity can be followed on the Student Activities Committee's Facebook page.
