Oxford College has joined other educational institutions across the country in preparing for H1N1 flu, working closely with Emory Student Health and within CDC guidelines to implement the best plan for the health of our college community. .
While Oxford Student Health is on the list to receive and offer vaccination to students for H1N1 influenza when it becomes available (possibly as early as late October), Oxford is taking preventive steps now to decrease the likelihood that this new virus will spread in our college community.
Highlights of Oxford's Plan:
Note: Those in self-isolation should leave self-isolation only for medical care and necessities to prevent the spread of illness and seek emergency medical care if they feel they have symptoms that warrant immediate evaluation. Employees and students may return to campus when they have been fever-free for 24 hours, while off of fever-reducing medications.
Seasonal flu vaccine is available for students while supplies last. Additionally, on September 30 the Newton County Health Department will be offering an additional chance to get seasonal flu shots on campus.
