Kayleena is well-versed in skills needed as a project management intern through her various involvements at Oxford.
“The skill I've developed at Oxford that has been most important is initiative. At Oxford, I knew my interests and took early initiative to eventually become Co-President of OxVentures as well as Film Club,” she describes.
However, she also emphasizes how Warner Bros. and other companies care more about “how you got there, what you accomplished, and what you took away from it.”
Hence, because taking initiative at Oxford allowed her to gain a collaborative mindset, Kayleena feels that the most rewarding part of her work is “getting to be in the room where final decisions happen” because she gets to understand all of the various moving parts that go into product design.
“I've been in meetings where designs for movie covers, media, and packaging were reviewed, and I learned how much collaboration and compromise goes into every part,” Kayleena recounts.
While she enjoys this work, Kayleena’s favorite moment at her internship was participating in the bean-boozled challenge with her co-workers on the first day. While she was fortunate to get buttered popcorn, some of her co-workers were not as lucky.
“This was my favorite moment not only because it had a lot of laughs, but primarily because it introduced me to the type of culture or environment that I was entering. Everyone around me works incredibly hard, but is also very kind, welcoming, and fun,” she concludes.
