Discover Oxford’s Hollywood Connection 

Over 140 films and shows have used the area as a backdrop. Some of these were filmed on Oxford’s campus! Have you heard of the Dukes of Hazzard television show? In the first few episodes of the show, General Lee jumps in front of Seney Hall. While you can’t recreate the scene, you can visit Seney Hall to check out where this stunt took place!  Be sure to explore all the filming locations to uncover the town’s rich cinematic heritage.   

In The Vampire Diaries, Oxford College transformed into Whitmore College – which is a pretty fun fact for fans of the show! Locals consider the Mystic Grill a hidden gem because it was made famous in The Vampire Diaries. Picture yourself enjoying lunch on the rooftop, overlooking the lively Covington square—just like the characters did.

While you are on campus, you must visit the Oxford College Organic Farm. Not only does it support student learning, but it also provides fresh produce to campus and the community. You can even join in the harvest through student programs and learn more about sustainable living.  

When you take your exploration off campus, you will find over 6k acres of a wildlife center, fishing at Turner or Varner Lakes, or the 4-mile Cricket Frog trail. Whether you enjoy hiking, biking, or immersing yourself in wildlife, it’s a great place to discover the outdoors.

Local lore says the house is haunted by Toby Means, son of Oxford College’s founder, and let’s just say he hasn’t entirely moved out. Whether you believe it or not, it’s definitely a spot worth checking out—if you dare. 

Oxford has a few places where legends are made. Few and Phi Gamma Halls aren’t just historic—they're iconic. These buildings once housed Oxford’s literary societies and are said to spark creative magic in anyone who spends time there. Debaters, writers, and dreamers have all walked those halls—and who knows, maybe you’re next.
